Built Heritage Fund to be increased (hopefully)

Thanks to councillors including the mayor today to increase the Built Heritage Incentive Fund from a proposed $100,000 a year to $329.000. A good outcome, thanks to those who were supportive.

My thinking is at the moment to try and prioritise this money for initial engineering reports as a precursor to strengthening. We can't afford to strengthen them ourselves (and neither should we), but we can assist owners to get started on the process.

This proposal will go out to public consultation as part of our Draft Annual Plan. People will be welcome to have their say on this initiative.
