Cutting the Built Heritage Incentive Fund

Disappointed that some of my colleagues voted to put this idea out to consultation as part of the work we will do prior to approving our budget for the year (thanks to my colleagues including the mayor Celia Wade-Brown for opposing this move). It will essentially mean that the fund is cut from $200,000 to $100,000. This is after we created six new heritage areas which will mean that many more owners will be eligibel to apply for funding.

Given the terrible events in Christchurch, I hope that people will engage on this issue and look at whether this fund actually needs to be increased to help owners of heritage buildings strengthen their buildings.
