Too costly not to have extended parental leave

Mean-spirited of the Government to oppose a bill to extend Paid Parental Leave from 14 to 26 weeks, especially when it looks like the move has some wide-spread support amongst MPs and the public.

The cost is worth it, with 26 weeks, mothers will have time to breast-feed their children for the recommended 6 month minimum time instead of feeling pressured to return to work for financial reasons. I know from plenty of personal experience that combining work with breast-feeding is hard work, we need to make it easier for mothers to do this important job.
