Budget announcement that income related rents will be extended to social housing providers is good news but it also needs to be extended to Councils as well. Such a move might put $30m into the pocket of WCC to help our tenants. We are likely to make a submission to Government to support this point.
As part of this programme, there will also be a move to shift tenants from state housing. This is hugely concerning. Many of these tenants don't have a lot of options, if they are made to shift, where will they go?
