The Local Government Commission is calling for ideas on how Wellington should be governed after it accepted proposals from the three Wairarapa Councils for a local amalgamation and Greater Wellington Regional Council for a super city.
People now have until the 16th August to submit alternative proposals to the Commission who will then hopefully reflect with an open mind on what one option (this process is stipulated by law) will be consulted on.
I do have concerns however that the Commission will have an open mind. These people are political appointees. My prediction is that they will chose the GW option, but we shall see.
