Younger blood needed on Councils?

Absolutely, yes. As the recent debate on alcohol showed where punitive measures were debated (the impact to be carried by younger people), more representative councils would be good.

The age of most councillors in the Wellington region tends to be on the higher side. People can of course make a contribution at any age but councils need to look like our communities. In Wellington's case, the average age is 30.

Why do younger people not want to stand? Shaping our cities for the future is definitely the business of those under 30.
