Paris inspiration - 20% decrease in the ownership of the private car over the last 10 years

As Wellington continues to debate whether we should invest in motorways, it might be worthwhile looking at what Paris has already achieved. In one of the most wonderful cities in the world, the last 10 years has seen a significant decrease in the rate of private private car ownership.

In addition, great to see progressive mayor Anne Hidalgo saying that she wants to ban diesel vehicles by 20/20 and a doubling of cycle lanes and more pedestrian space.

Again proof, that very successful cities do not need to rely on outdated transport strategies to be sustainable into the future.
