Is housing affordability a problem in Wellington?
The answer is yes, WCC is currently working on a housing strategy which will look at this very issue. We hope to report back early next year. In the mean time, the Productivity Commission's thinking that we should relax urban limits is a no go for me. Sprawl creates further environmental costs and increases the purchase price for potential homeowners given the expense of putting in infrastructure in undeveloped localities.
