Remove the barriers on Willis now

I agree that WCC needs to take action on bus safety in Willis and Manners Street. As a supporter of the changes, I still think that we made the right decision to reroute buses through the old Manners Mall.

However, I do agree that further steps need to be taken to keep pedestrians safe. The Council has already made some changes such as proposing to close off Bond Street and installing traffic lights in the middle of Willis Street (facts not mentioned by the editorial) but there is more to be done. Removing the barriers would be a good first step.

It is frustrating to see people take such risks through as they walk through the city. We need to create a culture of safety first, our city is a dynamic place, it is not a quiet backwater.
