Interesting article today in The Sunday Star Times discussing an Auckland initiative for the above requirement. It is an interesting idea. I would like to see such an idea implemented in Wellington but maybe not immediately. Some education will be required of clients about the benefits of green buildings before an mandatory requirement is introduced - locally or nationally.
Still, the imperative is there. We need to take climate change seriously and our office stock is part of the climate problem and green buildings also make financial sense - by using resources more wisely, businesses and government can save money.
