Good news, we now have some firm dates and costs for earthquake strengthening the Town Hall and other Council owned buildings including Tawa Library, the Band Rotunda, Brooklyn Library and more.
In some cases, we have managed to find savings on some projects, in the case of the Town Hall, the cost has risen $11m after further detailed investigations were done into ground conditions.
It is critical that we continue to lead in this area. The city's buildings must be strengthened and the Council must do its share of this work.
