I love to shop online and am a regular Trademe user but do wonder whether the increase in online sales highlighted by The Dominion Post is really a positive news story?
A bit more analysis would have been helpful here and one of the key questions is what does it do to retailers in our towns and cities? City centres without retail don't work. If online retailers can undercut those with bricks and mortar, can they continue?
Retailing is very tough in Wellington at the moment. With the continuing trend to online retailing, it is clear that those on the ground will have to work even harder than they do already to compete.
