I of course agree in having open and transparent public processes to dispose of public land and sites However, would note that it has been agreed through a very long process that local iwi (Port Nicholson Settlement Block Trust) will first have option on this land as part of the Treaty Settlement Process.
There is no doubt that Taranaki Whanui were treated badly by the early settlers, even a conservative government can agree on this point. The Settlement process must take place. I am sure that there will be plenty of opportunities for consultation once the PNSBT have decided whether they want the site or not.
