Training on alcohol today...do we need more bureacracy?

Yes and no. I'm off to training today on the new District Licensing Committees that the Government have stipulated must be set up.

The workload is likely to be heavy, approving licences for bars and restaurants and bar managers. One of the Committee members must be a councillor so the Government has clearly said that the community must be involved in decisions around licensing. This is something that I strongly support. Will be an interesting morning.
