Big Brother for NZBus drivers?

Big Brother to be watching bus drivers after NZBus made the decision to install surveillance devices on board its buses. The devices will be able to monitor driving performance - telling drivers if they are speeding or breaking too hard and so on.

I'm ambivalent about this move. On one hand, anything that improves driver performance has to be welcomed. Some drivers are fantastic, but some are surly and aggressive drivers in my experience.

On the other hand it will give more control to management over driver behaviour and will need to be used carefully if any employment disputes arise.
