An interesting report from TDB, commissioned by Hutt City shows that savings from a supercity won't eventuate. I hope the Local Government Commission will listen.
The report also recommends that there are single entities for managing water, waste and roads. I'm sceptical about such proposals but do see that such measures combined with unitary authorities would allow for democratic control around the region.
