Quakes good for Wellington economy - seems yes, but no definite proof yet

The millions of dollars being poured into the Wellington economy to earthquake strengthen buildings is great news for our economy but a warning here. There is no data about the impact of this work and furthermore, the move to strengthen has to be balanced against the losses that owners have suffered since the Canterbury quakes.

I have asked about the economic impact before and think it is time to consider doing some economic modelling to see what benefit the strengthening work is taking.
