Housing boom? Not exactly

But good news that houses are again being built after the pain of the Great Financial Crisis. The Dominion Post reports the biggest increase in the last quarter in a decade. But still, not enough.

Even mainstream commentators in the Business pages are realising that we just can't go on growing outwards, we will need to build many apartments. In Wellington this is a realistic alternative to the traditional home given the vibrancy of the inner city.

A Housing Strategy will be in place later in the year for the city. I hope that this will help stimulate construction here. We are finally taking housing seriously. I spent the first few years on Council advocating that we needed to concentrate on the issue more. Finally, some action.
