Should co-sleeping with babies to be banned?

Another case of a baby co-sleeping with a parent and dying. This is terribly sad and unacceptable.

But the picture is more complex. It is clear that drugs and alcohol were involved here and this is an absolute no no - to sleep with a baby when intoxicated or high. It is obvious too that poverty was a factor too that there was no room for the baby to sleep separately.

For over tired and stressed out parents, co-sleeping will seem a realistic option. But more education is needed to warn parents of the dangers of co-sleeping, what the risk factors are and eradicating the conditions which force a few to share a bed with their child.

Banning would be a step too far, but obviously an issue that needs to be addressed.
